There is a reason I usually buy last minute gifts! Look in the dictionary under procrastinate and you’ll see…
ME!
Project for work, packing for a trip, losing 20 pounds for a special event…one thing I can absolutely guarantee…
I…will…wait…until…the…very…last…minute.
And nothing – including gift shopping – is exempt from this annoying flaw.
Please don’t think this is a trait I embrace because I am actively working to improve it. However, until I move from “put off until tomorrow world” to the “land of get it done”, I’ve had to find some ways to compensate in other areas of my life.
But when it comes to shopping for gifts, procrastination has actually led me to some of the best last minute, inexpensive gifts, ever...
And I’m sharing them with you.
How to Become a Last Minute Gift Giving Goddess/God
Out of all the great 21st century inventions, unquestionably, online shopping is at the top of my list.
Being able to roll out of my bed, shuffle to my computer and surf (in my pajamas!) until I find the perfect gift for each person on my list makes me ecstatically happy.
And it has made me a gift giving goddess! No neglected, discarded or regifted items from me. To get on my gift list is like gold. Undoubtedly, you KNOW you’re going to love what I give you. It may not cost a lot, it may not be huge but it will be something that will be loved and used.
And this year you can be a gift giving goddess too. You can order any or all of these gifts and have them in two to three days…without ever having to leave your house or put on pants.
And that you waited until the 11th hour to shop will be our little secret!
14 Perfect Gifts for Last Minute Giving
1. The techie on your list will love this!
The LapGear Smart Media Desk II for your techie’s tablet will have them typing your praises. I love sitting in the bed with my tablet, phone and a snack and of course, there’s enough room on this desk for all three.
2. Goodbye messy kitchen counters.
This is not your mama’s spoon rest. For the cook in the family, the Fox Run Pot Spoon Holder clips to the pot and holds the spoon or fork you’re using for cooking. I gave several of these to my sister for mother’s day. Later she told me that when she opened her gift, she wasn’t impressed. Now it is one of the most used things in her kitchen. She loves that it helps her keep track of her spoon, frees up counter spaces and also eliminates messy counters!
3. Odors be gone.
Stainless steel removes nasty odors…who knew. Keep this Fox Run Soap Odor Remover Bar in the kitchen and use it like regular bar soap to get rid of those garlic, onion and other stubborn smells. Not only will this work great in the kitchen, if you have a fisherman in your house – put one in their tackle box!
4. Best cutting board ever…chop and clear.
Chopping ingredients for a dish is not one of my favorite things to do. Nevertheless when I do, I use the Chop and Clear Cutting Board. This thing has removable drawers that makes it so easy to use. I chop, slide it into the drawer then just take the drawer and dump the veggies into my dish! Voila.
5. For the host/hostess.
If they entertain, clearly they need great glasses. This Set of Crystal Whiskey Glasses is all quality. You get not four, but six beautiful glasses. And these glasses are gorgeous! Even though these are whiskey glasses, you can use them for so much more. Love it.
6. Coffee lovers must have.
In our house, coffee is not just a beverage…it is an event, a necessity, one of the basic food groups. And my husband usually drinks his on the run. I can’t tell you how many times he’s ended up with coffee spills on his shirt on the way to the office. Not to mention the accidently desk spills.
Last Christmas, his favorite gift was the Contigo AUTOSEAL West Loop Vacuum Insulated Stainless Steel Travel Mug with Easy-Clean Lid. It stays closed until you take a sip. No more spills. This has become his favorite gift. He’s even bought three more so he’ll always have a clean one ready to go!
7. Waterproof music.
If you have a shower taking or swimming music lover on your list…this is the gift for them. Waterproof, with suction cups – the BassPal Shower Radio pairs with a phone or other bluetooth device and will have them making beautiful music – rain, shine or shower. You can even take it in the pool because it floats!
8. For the travelers.
How many times have you been on a plane with your family and one of your phones…computers…tablets dies.
And you are left with nothing and no way to hear the movie your husband is watching while he hogs the backup battery that he refuses to share just because you forgot yours after he reminded you to pack it (twice) and his computer only has one headphone jack.
The NuclearAV Multi Headphone Splitter lets you plug multiple headsets into one headphone jack. Marriage saver!!!
Also, this works great in the car with two kids and one screen!
9. Snacks made easy.
Do you have teens that want snacks that are really meals?? This Nostalgia Retro Pop-Up Hotdog Toaster is a snack changer. Kids put the hotdogs and buns into the toaster and it pops up when ready. Great for the snack area in the family room or media room.
10. For the kids on your list
Who doesn’t love bubbles? And more bubbles, just mean more fun. The ArtCreativity Bubble Blowing Steering Wheel Toy will give kids (and some adults) hours of fun. Blow on.
11. More for the kids!
I guarantee you’ll want to buy two of these Strongarm Nerf N-Strike Elite Toy Blaster! This is so much fun, everyone will want to get in on the Nerf battles. Also, these need NO BATTERIES.
12. For the Road Trip Enthusiast
First there was triptiks, then the GPS. Now smart phones are the go-to when it comes to trip navigation. The iOttie Easy One Touch 2 Car Mount Holder holds both Androids and iphones. Easy to mount on the dashboard, it keeps you from trying to hold the phone and drive at the same time. This is one of the gifts I gave my husband for Christmas last year. No more balancing his phone in the ashtray or on the armrest while driving, clearly a smarter and safer solution!
13. For the Health Enthusiast
The Hamilton Beach Personal Single Serve Blender with Travel Lid makes it easy to make just one smoothie. Also, it has a travel lid so you can blend and go; so no glass needed.
